Leadership Training at the Lancero School

Purpose U.S. soldiers learn leadership skills at the Colombian military school, which is similar to the U.S. Army Ranger School.
Notes All training is in Spanish and only Colombian Army tactics are used.

Fuerzas Aliadas Riverine 97 Honduras

Purpose The operation in Honduras, held in the Gulf of Fonseca, was a military counternarcotics action. It was designed to counter drug trafficking in rivers, oceans, and other waterways through communication, maintenance of arms, and navigation.
Number of personnel 70 Salvadoran Navy personnel, 26 Salvadoran Narcotics Law Enforcement Officials, and 30 members of the U.S. Navy

Purpose This joint maneuver at the La Unión naval base offered training in stopping contraband smuggling and practiced operational procedures for first aid relief during natural disasters. Participants learned about maintaining and repairing boats, searching ships, and first aid procedures.
Personnel In addition to U.S. and Salvadoran contingents, the exercise was attended by 14 delegates from the Guatemalan Navy and 2 officers of the Belizean Marines.
