About National Security Project
Creating a grassroots community to challenge the militarization of American foreign policy and to expose the military-industrial-congressional complex
The National Security Project is devoted to creating a grassroots community to challenge the militarization of American foreign policy and to expose the military-industrial-congressional complex, which drew a warning from President Eisenhower fifty years ago. U.S. reliance on the use of force has damaged U.S. interests at home and abroad at a time when the United States is facing economic duress; European allies are reducing defense expenditures; and even U.S. rivals are trying to keep defense costs under control. As a result, the United States is no longer seen as a beacon of liberty to the world, but as an imperialistic bully with little respect for international law. The Defense Department budget remains out of control; the Department of State no longer provides robust diplomatic alternatives to the use of force; and the intelligence community has become a partner of the Pentagon, which President Truman warned about 65 years ago.
